Let’s make pickleball a high school sport in Arizona
In 2025, PURE launched Arizona High School Pickleball, establishing 25 student-led, staff-sponsored, school-chartered clubs statewide. The Fall 2025 season culminated in the inaugural Arizona High School Pickleball State Championships, presented by HonorHealth and officially certified by USA Pickleball — the first high school state championships in the country.
A total of 145 student-athletes competed across 5 divisions over 2 days, crowning individual state champions in Boys & Girls Doubles, Mixed Doubles, and Boys & Girls Singles. Points from top finishers also determined the overall high school pickleball club state champion.
Building on this momentum, PURE announced a Spring 2026 marquee event called CLUB CUP — a new team-format competition, as a preview of scholastic pickleball. The competition featured a 12-team bracket, with each team made up of 2-3 boys and 2-3 girls competing across three rounds on two courts, games to 15:
- Rd 1: Boys & Girls Doubles | Rd 2: Two Mixed Doubles | Rd 3: Top Boys & Top Girls Singles
- If tied 3-3, then Dreambreaker tiebreaker — a fast-paced, rotating singles game to 21 points, rally scoring involving all four players on each team.
